That tank is "nominally" 6.6 gallons. The manufacturer says that it may vary in capacity up to .5 gallons either way due to "production variations". Mine took 7.2 gallons the first time I filled it. I suspect it may have stretched some since. The biggest I had heard of prior to yours was 7.5 gallons. I have never heard of one that took less than 6.6 gallons.
I think it was somewhere in this discussion that I read you maybe could stretch a tank with heat and air pressure or something, which makes me think it feasible that mine might have expanded some over the years.
