Probably have not been in the area's where the deer live. Has anyone ever tried those gadgets for car's that are supposed to screen out some noise which the deer interprets as 'Don't f&&king move' or something like that? Don't ride west of Austin / San Antonio when dark. You will encounter
them. I live in DFW by Grapevine Lake and saw what looked to be deer
tracks at the lake. Now there4 are deer crossing signs north and
south of the lake. When I went to Utah recently I saw 2 dead ones
(big) by the road around Childress / Vernon and they never used to be
there. They are thick around Jacksboro also and if you speed at night
in the Big Bend area you might hit a big Mule deer, Antelope,
Mountain sheep or Wild Turkey. East Texas is full of White tail.

Rev
You are correct . But I was a new rider and my Ins. would go down $300.00 after the first year if I did not have any claims.
My deductible is $1000.00 .It takes 5 years of no claims before my ins.
would go back down. Therefore 5X300=1500 plus 1000 =2500.I only spent about
$2000 fixing it . that is why I chose to go that route. If I had of been
hurt worse or the bike damaged more I am sure I would have made a claim.
But thanks for your input.
Leaving Thursday for the Black Hills S.D.. I will leave here in the
London area cross the boarder in Port Huron, to Luddingtom Michigan
take the Badger Ferry across the lake then west to Spearfish . Where I
am meeting my friend from Fernie BC for approx.10 days to 14 days of
riding
Any recommendations on camping or motels, we tend to do both.
Routes we should take , things to see. We both have KLRs.
If any one sees us, one Blue mine (the fastest) one red Jim's both 08s

The day I got my cast off I was back on the bike. It had about $2,000.00 Damage . I fixed it myself . I did not have any collision Ins. and I don't think the Deer did either because he did not stop to see if I was OK. > Let me know how the deer eradication goes and consider me in. > I was 50 then. > Ride safe be careful have fun. > Paul Paul, I am not an insurance expert by any means, but I have had damage repaired on more than one occasion caused by a deer. It was not the collision part of my insurance but the comprehensive side of the policy. Some one else sing out if I got that all wrong.... You should look at your policy (car/bike/etc) and see what the additional cost of comprehensive is going to be. For me in the long run, it has more than paid for itself. revmaaatin. __________________________________________________________________ The new Internet Explorer 8 - Faster, safer, easier. We will be in Dawson June 26-27 when we have a rest day so I guess the rally
is on then. Google 'Dust to Dawson', that should get you more info. I'm on
an 'Army " model, you know it - green with silver, Hap. Trail boxes and a
few stickers on them. CB antenna, Georgia, USA plates. Will be in the
company of 2 F650s a new edition KLR and a KTM, blue/orange I think. We
leave Cut Bank , MT on the 17th and return July 4th, 5500 miles in total.
One rear tire change on the way. Will be running these dates out of Dawson.
6/22 - arrive Eagle Plains, YK
6/23 - arrive Inuvik, NWT
6/24 - arrive Eagle Plains, YK
6/25-26 D2D rally
Hope to see and gab with you along the way.

I'm headed to Inuvik, leaving Calgary area 25th June. How long's your trip, what color's your KLR, what state license on it? Mine's an Alberta registered '04 with a red 'canoe bag' across the rear seat and yellow soft bags. I'll be travelling w/ a BC blue '08 or '09...? I'll keep an eye out for you if there's possibility of an "overlap". Ed
