I did this, as well, for the extra rear tube, tire patches, and tire irons. I put a screw-on cap on both ends, so that I can push things through should they get stuck. I made the length of the tube just long enough to hold everything I wanted to stuff in, which made it JUST long enough to use as a lightweight highway peg, though I don't generally ride this way. It didn't seem to extend too far out--I couldn't even see it when under way, without craning. No sooner did I very cleverly install this than I went for a Baja ride with Elden Carl, who is the fastest on-road KLR rider I've ridden with, and according to him I *damn* near scraped the protruding end of the ABS tube on the curves. I wasn't scraping a peg yet, but shuddered to think what might have happened if I hard-grounded the tool tube in a corner. It came off forthwith. I'll shorten and reinstall it when I get a round tuit. - Dave Svoboda, Sandy Eggo [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]>On Dec 23, 2006, at 11:39 AM, Norm Keller wrote: > > > Someone suggested that a tool tube might be attached vertically to the > > right fork tube and wondered about the effects. > >I mounted a 3" ABS tube so it rests just above the bash plate.
