I'll second that. My bike came with the Dual Star, and although I'm glad it's there for maintenance, I never use it on a daily basis 'cause it's just too difficult. When the bike is loaded down with luggage, forget it. Problem is there's nothing really to hold on to at the front of the bike, except the somewhat sharp bottom edge of the tank. I'm looking at the various engine guards to see if any of them provide a good holding point. Paul A16

Try using the left handlebar grip and the rear grab handle. Works for me. I guess it might help that I am 6'4". Like new shoes, it gets more comfortable the more you use it. Fred http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/cmc.html

A good holding point is the rear footpeg mounting bracket. You need gloves on though since it is not very comfortable to grab. It is mounted to the subframe so it is solid. I learnt how to get it up on the centerstand with the Concours. When loaded with gear and 7.5 gal of petrol she tips the scales at about 750+lbs. Just roll her back, while at the same time standing on the "foot kick" and lifting, kind of a clean-and-jerk if you will. But for now I'll stick with the MotionPro collapsing side stick thingy for swapping tires or other stuff. Don't get me wrong, I think the CS is great, just wondering how much more weight they add to an already porky bike. How many pounds does the CS with foot kick weigh? Mark A3, A9

Paul The weight is not bad at all, I'm not a big fan of CS but the one I got from Fred is really nice, I use it when I'm on long trips and when I need to work on the bike and it comes off when I don't need it. That only takes 5 min and I let my 13 yr old do it for me, I'm getting her ready now so when she is 17 I can get her on a bike and hit the road with me, I have the collapsing side stick from Big Cee and it will do the job if I'm out in the woods without the CS, Fred's CS is one of the best tools I have for the KLR.... I got mine from Fred. Don't remem what brand but likeit much. I developed a little trick to getting it on the stand. Hand on the bars and one on the frame rail. Foot on the end of the stand. Start rolling the bike back and jam the stand down with your foot while pulling back on the bike and it pops right up there. I do this at 61 years old without a problem so you younger guys should have less problems than I. \ Now , If only it would get up there as easy as my BMW. The best I've ever had for putting it on the centerstand. Andy in Louisiana R1150GSA KLR650 DRZ400 < waiting for someone to come out with a centerstand for it also.

Does anyone have a centerstand for a KLR 650 they want to sell?

klr650.com and isallgood.com offer centerstands for the klr650. I have not seen one in person so I can't say whether or not they are as good as the one dual-star offers. I am very happy with the one I got from dual-star. Check to see if Fred at Arrowhead Motorsports.com offers one. Don't know if he is back from vacation yet.
