klr 650 fastest street-legal motorcycle

Well dont take this personally, but your say so dont make it so, no not nearlya . You said your KLR has 30 hp, as I recall, when the fact is the literature all shows 36 to 37 at the rear wheel. You quote 52 for the KTM, a crankcase rating--not even comparable to the KLRs rear wheel number. And you just throw out the assertion that your XR650L is faster than a KLR 650 despite the KLR having 20 % more horsepower and and significantly more torque across the band. And lower gearing too as I recall. Dubious, highly dubious. I provide documented links to authoritative sites, you provide vague and unsubstantiated recollections. ----------------------------------- In fact, for its weight, it happens to be just about the fastest, streetlegal production bike

A friend has a KTM 625 SMC. He had a KLR-650 before it, and says that the KTM is faster, but not by a whole lot. I didn't get a chance to ride his KTM, but will soon. He has 50 bikes (no, that's not a typo) and when I asked him what his favorite one to ride was, he replied "The KTM". There is a mystique in the big bore DP bikes! Mike A18 klr250not wrote:

Folks, I'm the proud possessor of two bikes. One is a KLR650, the other is a Yamaha DT175G. My limited testing shows that the KLR is the fastest street bike available to me, so I suppose that I'll just have to be happy with that. DC Mike Frey wrote:
