Hello all. I have a question about the special tools needed for the doohickey replacement: I am not that excited about buying the tools, since you ideally only have to do the procedure once. Once you're done, you have some nice tools that don't do much. I was wondering if there are any of you out there that are willing to sell your doohickey tools for cheaper than buying new, or even lend them. I am an honest person who will happily return them when finished, and even pay shipping both ways if anyone is interested. It just seems a little silly for everyone to buy the same expensive tools that will probably only be used once. Anybody interested or have any thoughts on that? Thanks, Gabe A19

Where do you live? Wherever it is, there is probably somebody within driving distance who will either host a tech day or loan you the tools and long with some experienced assistance, if you will come to them. We had a tech day in the Twin Cities area. Seven guys were able to use the tools to change their idler levers. BTW, out of the seven, we found two broken levers and one broken spring, so I think everybody thought it was a worthwhile exercise. We had a good time, too, and got to meet some guys who share our interest. Watch this board as well as KLR650.net to find a tech day near you.

anybody out there willing to rent or lend out the two tools (rotor wrench and puller bolt) needed to replace the doohickey? i'm on a budget right now (tax time) and i have had the eagle lever for 3 months and not had the time to do it.i am off work for 2 weeks and now its getting warmer here in ohio and i need to get er done (spring fever gettin to me) i can pay round trip shipping and/or reasonable rent fee. all replies will be greatly appreciated. shawn a15 ohio
