motorcycle show
I must say I have test ridden the "Wee" and I really like it, As I will be keeping my KLR(s) and just basically replacing the BMW 1150GSA and the 1150RT that I bought, rode and enjoyed but are just too damm heavy and expensive for my taste. Kinda regret getting rid of the RT more of the two, but it was Street only and I kept thinking "Look Dirt" and had to go on.
So, I am looking at and scheming on the next bike... needs to be able to handle a fire road or get me to a camp site somewhere, including carrying the gear. But, has to be California Freeway comfortable to ride. AKA must be able to get out of the way of the car coming up behind me at 90 when I am doing 70mph without a lot of drama. That is my ONLY reason for a another bike plan, I have had the crap scared out of me with a couple dozen times almost getting rear ended here on the Freeway with me doing between 70 and 80MPG in a 65 zone and not having any acceleration to really maneuver out of the way. I joke that the KLR is the perfect bike until I hit the state of Crazy, er I mean California and the many texting speeding idiiots. Oh, and my niece is one of them, she just totaled her Mercedes taking a "selfie" with my other niece that Rides an R1 no less. Rear ended someone on the freeway. Connie is 30 years old and the mother of 5... I love her but common sense is not her strong point... Praise GOD no one was hurt but 3 cars were totaled in the accident.
I am patient and when the "right bike at the right deal comes along" I will get it... I really believe it will be a later model Vstrom 1000 at this point. Just trying to decide between the 2012 version or the 2014 or newer version. I really like the F700gs/F800gs by BMW and a friend sells them... so I get to test them and I gotta say they are wonderful bikes. And the one with the Rekluse Clutch sold me on that option. But... Having now ridden them, along with the Wee, the Super Tenere', the Vstrom 1000, and the Triumph explorer... I must say for me and my 300lb short legged long armed square body... the Vstrom 1000 is so far the best fit. Oh, other than I hate the stock foot pegs they have to go...
Glad others got to the show, would loved to have met up with you. And yes, I make an effort to go to that show even when it was in San Mateo but I think Cal Expo really offers more in the way of growth for this show. They need to do it a couple weeks earlier though as the "Winter Wonderland" is being built at this time and takes up the MAJORITY of Cal Expo...
I was thrilled that they had enough stuff for the kids as well, and still kept it for adult riders. And I laughed at the "band" playing next to the Harley booth... Loud Bands save lives
