aftermarket exhaust results

Sounds like you have not removed a stock KLR exhaust. I just weighed mine and it's almost 12 lbs vs 5 lbs for the Laser Duo Pro. Comparing the FMF header to stock is probably a pound or two difference. The advantage is better sound, less back pressure, and the exhaust pressure wave effect of the power bomb chamber in the FMF header. The real effect is combined with the air box opened up and reject, my KLR can accelerate better than any other Gen 1 or Gen 2 bike in my group riding. The stock jetting is EPA lean to begin with and at 4400 ft with. 12% less hp it begs for rejecting and intake and exhaust improvements. Given only 35-37 hp to begin with at sea level on a 410 lb bike, even small gains help rideability. Losing 10 lbs with a lithium ion/iron battery is the real weight saving mod.  Laser Duo Pro was $200 when I bought it years ago and never needs re packing, all stainless. A real Farley is my Suzuki Samurai headrest converted into a passenger backrest attached to my eBay oversize luggage rack. Send me a PM for photos of my 2007 Gen 1 bike if interested. 49 yrs riding and modifying seven bikes , mostly for fun, serious fun. Mark in Nevada
