If you opt to drill in place, here's an additional idea for metal chip containment: Make a hole in a small hand towel - only big enough to fit around the hole being heli-coiled. Liberally smear grease on one side of the cloth and cover the entire head with the greasy side up. Put a glob of grease around the hole to fill the gap from it to the towel. That way, when the chips fly, they'll have some place safe to land. In a supensders and a belt fashion, you could stuff greasy paper towels in the head cavities, too. -eddie

awning repair/patch (nklr) vermont??

Post by mark ward » Tue Aug 19, 2014 9:25 am

Hey
I know 1 KLR guy is in Vermont (?) and makes/repairs Sails.
I have a 28ft camper with some pinholes along the top seam, need to patch to keep from tearing & getting worse, & make last a few more yrs.. Hopefuly without removing the whole thing.
(shopping around for newer "bunk house", do to G.kids & beds, so going to sell, but still want a good repair for the next person.)
I see tapes, etc., and years ago used a long strip of replaced Awning and special Glue. (another persons awning)
Your trained advice???
