The IMS plastic ones seem to get good reviews from our own listers. I am thinking of getting one myself.

IMS makes a plastic tank, I think it's 7 gallons. I dont think it's listed on thier website, so you'll have to call them, and tell them what you want. MotorMark http://www.angelfire.com/mo/motormark/ KLR-650 A-13 "warthogg" XR250R "superfly" Stone Mountain, Ga ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

What's the advantage of an IMS tank, Paul? More capacity? Better when dumped on the rocks? I notice that they come in a number of colors, including transparent, which is nice, but not a18 red. Andrew

The only reason I'm interested in the IMS tank with the shrouds is that I think it gives the best radiator protection. Paul

Depends on how much time you have. Although I quickly purchased and received many little add-ons from Dual Star when I purchased my '06 in '06, they appear to have minimized inventory since then. This may have changed recently but for the last several years everything was on back order and you rarely had someone pick up the phone at their end. So check on availability if you want to go Dual Star. Don R100, A6F (x2)

How are they different? I thought Dual Star sold the IMS tank. In any case, I'e rather order from Fred, or direct from IMS, and get the tank in time for me to enjoy it, and not just my heirs. Dual Star can be miserably slow and unresponsive.

The dual-star does not have vents. ________________________________ From: Jud To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Fri, March 4, 2011 10:05:06 AM Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Re: Gas Tank How are they different? Dual Star doesn t make this tank. It is made by IMS and according to IMS this tank is the 5.5 gallon model. IMS says the military model was never sold to the civilian market. You can get the olive drab color in either the 5.5 or 6.6 gallon tank and some will call this the military tank . I see Dual Star is selling the cap separate, where the IMS tanks I sell come with the gas cap. I have several IMS tank colors in stock, including the olive drab military tank. IMS says they are out of these tanks in black but I may be able to source one. cmc and the white rim

Anyone interested in coming to the Canyonlands Motor Classic or riding the White Rim trail here should already know that we had a big flood that took out the Mineral Bottom road, which closed the White Rim trail last summer. We have received a grant to get this road repaired and it looks like the Mineral Bottom road will be in good shape soon. http://www.moabtimes.com/view/full_story/12144934/article-Repaired-Mineral-B ottom-Road-to-reopen-March-29?instance=home_news_right Also you should be aware that the NPS has instituted a temporary day use permit system for the White Rim. You can pick these permits up at the Moab Information Center in town or at the visitor center at Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands NP. http://www.moabtimes.com/view/full_story/12145135/article-Canyonlands-instit utes-temporary-permit-requirements-for-some-areas?instance=secondary_four_le ftcolumn Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/cmc.html [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
