The Concours has a small 4? row oil cooler (maybe 10" x 4") that I bet you could find for cheap (hit up the COG list for the parts, lotsa people have parts bikes that they'd be happy to sell some parts off of ;) I don't know where you'd tap into the oil lines though, I'd interesting in seeing the finished mod if it does happen. You're absolutely right. The pressure cap does more to raise boiling point than the coolant does. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Correct, it will raise the boiling point of the coolant (plain water or glycol) by three degrees for every pound of pressure the cap provides.

The difference in operating temperature may be related to the vents on the tank shroud cover things, 'cause when I use my Tank panniers, blocking the vents, my bike runs cooler as well. I really like my manually switched fan, I use it when I get stuck in traffic or when the going gets slow. The fan , when turned on before the needle rises too high, always keeps the rad. cool. Then when I shut the KLR off, the fan doesn't run by itself. It's a cool mod, but it does have it's drawbacks, but nothing a relay and the city lights hook-up wire can't fix. Conall, Some girl in NJ makes a fan relay bypass kit, If I remember right you just plug it in and if the stock relay fails you just hit the switch and your fan comes on. It comes with it's own relay and keeps the fan working as it would stock, really nice mod, and the kit is well made, not bad work for a girl LOL Tammy......... *********** REPLY SEPARATOR ***********

Hi! I dropped my A16 today and slightly crushed the bottom of my radiator. It seems to be fine, but I am curious, how much does a new one cost? Are they available on the after market? Thanks! Donnie

A new one costs A LOT. There's no aftermarket one available, but there are shops that can repair it. If it's not leaking and it's not FUBAR, don't sweat it. Buy a radiator guard to insure that it doesn't happen again. Mark

Make sure your radiator cooling fan still spins or you'll smoke it. If it's locked up it will burn the prop off the shaft, next time it tries to turn on. Rod --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "Donnie W. Jennings" wrote:

Or spin it with your finger and see if it moves (cold engine), if it moves freely, go to the bottom, unplug the wire and touch the metal inside the connector to a cooling fine on the engine and see if the fan comes on and really turns under power. Reconnect wire... Ride.... Dooden A15 Green Ape
