Well I bought my original KLR , an A13, in 2000, with 2812 km on it. Three weeks later it went on th 3 Flags Rally, (about 3400 each way). The A13 was sold in 07 with 82700 km on the clock, the replacement was an 08. So far those two have carried my sacred backside all around the US, and completely across Canada from the West coast of Vancouver Island to the East coast of Newfoundland. I am currently on route to the "Hyderseek  get-together at Hyder  AK. The KLR is probably not the perfect bike, but it will do until the Japanese finally produce it. At 72 I am probably not the oldest owner/operator on the list, but just give me time. DC

I'm 66. I live in Bishop California. I've had the KLR for about 3 years, my first off-road bike. I've done several rides up into the Sierras, starting at 4000 feet in Bishop, getting to over 10,000 feet on dirt/rock/sand trails, through streams too. I've taken some spills but haven't gotten hurt more than a few sore muscles. Hopefully I'll be able to do it for some years to come. Love the 650 power off-road because I'm about 230 and tall, and the KLR moves me uphill with a minimum of gear changing.

Well, I'm 58. Wasted a lot of years thinking I would get nose bleed climbing all the way up on one of those things.... Bought 5 ac in central Colorado @ 9,300', about 15 years ago. Summers up there, rest of the time in the TX Hill Country. Currently running a '97 KLR650, for road & trails, 2001 Super Sherpa for the tight stuff, and a '90 CBR1000F Honda Hurricane for the LD Highway stuff. Have a '83 Wing in back, been sitting for last 5 years or so. Playing ennie meenie mo, it just didn't get picked, had more funner bikes to do whatever after wife said she would pass on being a bike bitch. I really liked 2 up touring but going it alone is OK too... That old Wing is a pig after getting used to the Hurricane. Later, Randy

Motowerks in San Diego makes footpeg lowering blocks for the Versys (down 1.3") which are a HUGE improvement! Ed
