Dang, you are good, to be able to forge a box-end wrench to fit the generator rotor. Alan

Before you go buy a wrench that you will likely only need once, when you replace your balancer quadrant, why not look for a tech day in your area. You can borrow the tool, get some experienced coaching if you need it, and meet some fellow KLRists.

doohickey wrench

I have a doohickey wrench and rotor puller that was gratiously donated by Rick Johnson, one of our members. It is the aluminum unit, but I used it and had no problems even though I figured for sure I was going to bend or break it. IF anyone is interested, send me your address and I'll get it out to you before I head back for California. No need to pay for shipping or anything. Just pass it on to the next guy who needs it. Thanks to all for the great responses. I will be taking on the job in about a couple of weeks or a month, after the weather breaks. Have to work on it outside. Got snow on the ground right now here in New Jersey. Thanks again, Doug.

happy trails original side racks

Post by Kyle » Sun Mar 15, 2009 3:42 pm

I thought I would chime in and say that I just installed a set of Happy Trails Original Side Racks on my bike. I think they look awsome and completes the match with my P-D Nerf Bars. As with the P-D Nerf Bars the Original Side Rack bolt holes don`t line up just exactly right. Tighten one bolt just a little, then tighten the other and so on. Very sturdy once the bolts are torqued down. You can lift the bike by just the racks alone. I don`t know if $189.00 was worth it? But they do make my bike look tit`s! My bike is built like a tsnk now(and rides like one too). I`m off to go crush some cars:)
