nklr mccain is all tip and no iceberg. he's not intelligent.
I realize this. I wasn't happy about it, but I am happy to say my
both my congressional delegates voted No.
The point I was making is McCain voted the same as Obama--the guy
he's hinting supports socialism. Now, I might (disappointingly)
expect a yes vote from Obama but never from the mav-wreck. So does
he support socialism (i.e., govt bailouts) or was it he had no clue
what was going on and he panicked? Which is it because I'm
confused. Interesting McCain wants more and more deregulation and
then votes Yes for the biggest bailout in the history of the US. How
ironic and so quick to compromise his principles. Really, I don't
think McCain has a clue and he's flying by the seat of his pants like
dumbass Bush.

Whichever one promises me a new BMW GS 800 first, gets my vote.

Nah, I'd hold out for the one who gets KHI to fix all the doohickys and then give all current KLR owners a Next Gen KLR 800 with 6 speed gearbox, EFI, and real off/on road suspension, at 350lbs dry of course.
I'm picky.

Well said. I watch you American's bare your souls and struggle with difficult issues while the world watches. This long election campaign (almost 2 years) has exposed some deep divisions in american culture that are being discussed more openly than ever before. This election has captured a world audiance as it offers a choice between the future and the past that we all can relate to. I think more countries will face these demons in the future. I am respectful of your struggle and honestly feel the US will emerge greater than ever and be a model the free world will follow. Who would have thought that 2 years ago? Larry. Thanks, Larry.
We're all cut from the same fabric woven from different color threads
of freedom harvested through struggle. Periodically, we need to
washout the dirt and remove the stains...that's all.

Carter was one of the most intelligent Presidents we have ever had, according to school records. He was also the worst president in modern times. Look at his record.

Shrub coming back for a second term plus McCain being anywhere near 50% in the polls has wrecked my faith in my countrymen. I love my country. Its citizenry saddens me. No, I have no special love for Obama... But come on, you don't replace a moron with a slightly higher functioning moron who maintains an attitude of entitlement along with a nasty temper. Graduated 59th of 820. Smart guy but mostly through effort/drive. I
agree he's not a favorite President of mine. But considering how
young the US is, cutting your teeth comes hard and fast. Many things
have been discovered through tough times and frankly learn by tests
by people like Jimmy. But out of those errors and learning we've
built some great things. Of course, SOCOM being my favorite
.
Department of Energy and SPRs were born, too.
Those were some tough times post-Vietnam. He got hit with the
Iranian hostage mess and energy crisis. The energy crisis (which
actually started in 1973 with Nixon) was mostly panic/hoarding and
Big Oil taking advantage. Simply the US wasn't prepared and Jimmy's
pragmatic approach didn't help. Still, global oil production dropped
less than 5%, so it was drama and panic gripping Americans as usual.
He also had to deal with the Soviet Union invading Afghanistan.
Some positives:
Foreign oil imports were reduced by 50% from 1977 to 1982.
He's a monument to human rights.
He fought pork barrel spending.
From his inaugural speech..."We have learned that more is not
necessarily better, that even our great nation has its recognized
limits, and that we can neither answer all questions nor solve all
problems." His first steps in the White House were to reduce the size
of the staff by one third, and order cabinet members to drive their
own cars.
Well, I'm not trying to defend him. He whiffed and his approval
ratings confirmed it. He doled out tough medicine which arguably
paved the way for Reagan's success. I think it killed him not to get
a second term to see the fruits of his labor. But what do you want
from a peanut farmer? He's a farmer and espouses 'plant and be
patient' mentality, so perhaps a lot of what he thought and did was
visionary albeit terribly timed. I think his principles will be
proven right for the long-term future. Clearly his hard work ethic
and generousity is a model for all Americans.

I just spent a week in Sicily and had to listen to BBC's left wing
rant on America (the only gringo news there). No wonder the world has
a crappy image of America. They are worse than NBC, CBS and ABC
combined.
