Jennifer was current when I first started with this group. I thought
that it was great that the group was so informative, but not so pedantic
as to be a bunch of motorcycle geeks. That is a good point to remember
when the occasional writer starts in on the theme of "No NKLR stuff
should be allowed", "Technical disscussions only", etc: We all need a
bit of fun now and then.

A beautiful Miss guided KLRista. Happy Trails to her wherever she is
in the cosmos. I don't think there will ever be an umbrella girl like
her. Tall, lanky, smelling of WD-40 and Mobil 1 ..... sigh!

Thanks for your input, The reason i'm so fired up is.The bike was in the shop and I told them there was a problem. So they called and said kawasaki told them there were no issues with the 07 models (new and improved dohicky B.S.). So after picking the bike up I went for a test ride. And here's where things got ugly.Well here I am running down the freeway 65-70 mph, When all of a sudden the engine quit. You can guess the rest. HOLY SHE-OT.manage to get shoulder of the highway and checked my draws. Then pushed it 5miles back to the house.Turns out the dohicky was broken and the pieces cut the wire to the pulser coil. Just picked the bike up today, with the new parts I suppled.Because I refused to let them install OEM crap. The good news is the bike has never ran better.Even when it was brand new. This part was broken from day one.So if there is anyone out there that hasn't checked or replaced there dohicky,It's not a matter of will it break, But when!!! All one has to
do is see the oem part along side the aftermarket piece. It's night and day different. LIFE IS GOOD AGAIN,AND ALL IS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD

I think it's great that you finally got to the bottom of your KLR
problems and hopefully you'll be back on the road soon. But letters
have been written over the years, phone calls have been made, and
nothing has happened on Kawi's part except to beef up the doohickey
for the 2008 model.
Now that there's a new part, I doubt there's much anyone can do,
short of a lawsuit in response to a failure-related injury, to get
them to move on fixing older bikes. As far as I recall, no one has
been hurt by a doohickey yet.
The worst situation I remember (and my memory is far from perfect)
was when Mark Van Horn's clutch actuator rod (?) failed, gummed up
the works, and he had to bulldog a siezed KLR (rear wheel as well as
motor) to the side of the highway. If you'd like to be Don Quixote,
the job of KLR ombudsman is open. And if there's another safety issue
to address, bring it up. The KLR has many known opportunities for
improvement, but none have proved to be dangerous in normal
operation. The most hazardous thing to most KLR riders is the car in
the next lane or the one about to turn left in front of them.

oxtar mega way for duck feet?
Hi all--
What if I have feet like duck, have tried a whole bunch of the ones a
lot of you like, and can't fit 'em. Anybody know about the Oxtar Mega
Way? They're supposed to be for wider feet. (Not on sale at
Newenough.com though.)
