dogs on bikes

Post by Norm Keller » Fri May 11, 2007 7:20 pm

My 20 pound orange cat liked to ride in the tank bag on my crotch rocket but preferred the Wing. He hated to be on the highway (I suppose) because of wind noise. He liked dogs but hated Harleys. Shows that cats can have well refined tastes. Norm [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion regardless of how wrong it may be. If you don't like it, don't do it. ww --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Larry W Menefee wrote:

Perhaps you might like to notice the amount of "road kill" on the side of the road that were once peoples' pets. Usually from jumping out of a pickup bed, or through an open car window. Gee, I guess this is another way to kill fido?? Jeff A20 ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I'm not hot on the idea, but as long as the critter is secured and doesn't appear to be scared to death, I wouldn't say anything. If, you didn't do your job and it jumped off, hurting itself or causing a wreck, you'd be pressed to figure out how to make me shut up. Keep in mind that there are more than a few granny-state U.S. citizens out there who don't want you and I on a motorcycle, with or without a helmet, or even off-road. I'm sure many of the posters on this group have traveled outside the U.S. and realize how many more safety restrictions are in place here for cars, buildings, etc. I've seen a family of four plus a sheep tooling down the road more than a few times outside the States. It may be stupid to us, but it is their business. We have numerous special interest groups using "safety" issues to force their will on others and often to abuse others by using the legal system. The Florida Department of Children and Families would be a great example. They let the pedophiles go free while punishing falsely accused individuals every day. But discussion of that is NKLR and could fill volumes and volumes. How long do these pets really live anyhow? Think how often they get diseases and get themselves killed on the road or by other pets, children, and predators. I wish I could be more eloquent on the subject, but I don't really think it rises to that level. Steve in Niceville

I'd love to teach my dog Stella, how to ride on a bike like the dog that rode on a bike in the Baja 500 in Dust to Glory.... that'd be cool. I love my dog and hate to leave her behind when I go riding.... might be time for one of those KLR sidecars. And people who can't type or spell shouldn't be allowed use mailing lists or the internets. Sorry, just had to chime in with another ridiculous argument. ;) Z List sponsored by Dual Sport News at: www.dualsportnews.com List FAQ courtesy of Chris Krok at: www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html Member Map at: http://www.frappr.com/dsnklr650 Yahoo! My late great buddy .... Louzer (who passed this last February) could not have ridden on my KLR. He weighed 110 pounds. He would have made wheelies easier if I could have figured out where / how to put him. The Suburban was all his butt would fit into or onto. There used to be a guy in California who desert raced with his medium sized terrier something dog riding on a carpet coated tank. The dog seemed to love it. I saw a guy on a Gold Wing on the freeway in Albuquerque with a white poodle in his lap. Oh Well. Anybody heard of how the infamous Punky, Lou and Achi are doing? Criswell

I must apologize to the list for inadvertently introducing a controversial off topic to the forum. Being a new forum member I mentioned my dog in an informational context. I was not seeking attention, debate, or discussion on the subject and I certainly do not feel any need for approval, permission, or acceptance from anyone. Frankly, I don't really care what anyone thinks about Buster riding the bike (other than Buster of course), Nor do I want to engage in a flame war with every Chicken Little that has an opinion on the subject. Accordingly, this is my last post on the topic in any form. For those of you who feel the need to flame me at my email address I am blocking your addresses upon receipt so you can save the key strokes. I only read the list online and I will be skipping any posts with the word dog in them. Henceforth I will resign myself to lurking about for technical tips and wisdom about the KLR and occasionally asking technical questions of the more learned. Again, my apologies. ww

I hope at that price you got all teh accesories Kawi makes and a 5 year unlimited mile warranty (and maybe an old XR 50, too). I live in Riverside. Thanks CA Stu Vladimir Vega III wrote: I went to Bert's MegaMall in Covina for an advertised price on an '07 of 4399. I ended up paying 6500. Did I get cheated or what? I got it with a Kawi card--low payments . . . with big payments at tax time. Stuart, where do you live? I'm in the Inland Empire.
