clutch cable
I keep my spare clutch cable in my tool pack, in a ziplock and already
greased (usually I use WD-40 but to keep it from rusting inside the
bag...).
One of the reasons I refuse to patronize the dealer I bought my bike
from, is they don't even stock clutch cables. I called when I was
looking for a spare, and I was told they would have to order it, week to
ten days.

Seems someone posted once that they tied a spare cable to the OE one and
vibration caused holes to be rubbed in the outer case of the spare
cable. Then again, could be the lack of coffee causing halucinations of
the brain cells.

I called five dealers, no one has a cable. So I have one ordered, should
have it tomorrow afternoon. I carry a spare shift lever now, guess I should
carry a cable also.
I know what you mean about dealers. I won't go to the nearest dealer,
haven't in almost 20 years. He was a jerk then, and from what I hear, he
still is.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... When in need of a clutch cable, the ONE thing to do is to call Frad at Arrowhead and get him to send you one of the "upgrade" cables. I think it is the "Terminator" one. I installed one a while back and the difference is unbelievable! No kidding, I never use more then two fingers on the clutch now. It's that much better.

I've got one tie wrapped to the original, just waiting..... Of
course, karmic prophylaxis prevents anything from happening to the
stock one until I pull the spare off. Reason I carry spare
everything. Unsprung weight my ass, I've got enough SPRUNG stuff to
keep the bike flat on the ground

I have noticed my clutch becoming harder to operate so I lubed it
today with aero-lube and greased the pivot points today. Have not
noticed any difference. I guess it is time to get a new cable. Does
anyone have a favorite place to get these? I am not on good terms
with my local dealer since I told the service manager he should fire
his mechanics and go back to the wrences himself. I cant imagine why
that irritated him. LOL

Prompt shipping, and never sends an incorrect part.
You can definitely depend on good ol' Freddie.
Good Luck

I'd suggest taking the cable clear off the bike and hosing it out real well maybe with some WD40. I believe that the clutch cable just calls for cleaning, not lubing. You do have a cable lube tool, right? In my experience, clutch cables don't get harder to pull as they wear out, what usually happens is that they fray at either end. Have you greased the pivot point on your clutch lever recently? I'm betting that you have a pinched / kinked clutch cable somewhere, or it's misaligned on top of your right hand engine cover... Most times, it's some really basic simple stuff giving you grief, and you don't have to tear apart your motor or throw wads of money at it to fix the problem, right Mr. Morphew?> I have noticed my clutch becoming harder to operate so I lubed it > today with aero-lube and greased the pivot points today.
