I love mine and wouldn't ride the KLR without it but to add to the niggly issues list I find it seems to get rain on the inside of the shield and is difficult to clear when riding in bad weather, something we have had a lot of here in New England this year.
I generally ride with the shield cracked open a 1/4 inch as I wear glasses and it stops fogging so maybe that doesn't help.
Noise level is ok with me as I usually wear earplugs or earbuds and tunes from my iPod.
My 2 cents worth
Andy

ortlieb waterproof bags

<><><><><><><> <><><><><><><> John, I made brackets for my Ortliebs. But I think a person could use them without brackets. I like the brackets I made as they really secure the bags to the bike and I get absolutely no flapping of the bags. I discovered about two weeks after De Tour was complete that my right side bracket was bent into the side cover and was pressing it against the muffler. The bag was strapped to the bracket so it was against the side cover too. No damage to the bag or sidecover. About 5 minutes of bending and the bracket was back where it was supposed to be. I suppose the bending occurred when I was pinned between the bag and a large rock.
