I recently installed a barsnake on my 00 KLR. At the same time I cut off the stock grips and installed the pro gel grips. Felt vibration was reduced but not eliminated. The stock mirrors are a blur until about 4000 rpm they start to appear clear. At 5000 rpm the are perfectly clear but the handlebar vibration increases! I guess the ultimate test of a vibration eliminator would be one which leaves the mirrors vibration free at all rpm's. Anyone manage to accomplish this? Jim Richmond,Va.

Anyone use one? What do you think? Do they really reduce the "buzzzzzzzzzzz"? -Scott Scott C. Adams Scott@... or www.attorneyadams.com 20565 S.W. Tualatin Valley Hwy., #301, Aloha, Oregon 97006 (503) 324-0111 or fax (503) 324-1127

I put one in a few months back. It does help quell the vibes, but it will not completely eliminate them. My throttle fingers used to go numb after about 30 minutes at freeway speed and it has cured that. Frank Sikorski Vancouver, WA. A-14

The barsnake works wonders! However, it only cancells out certain vibration frequecies. I put one in my GPZ that would leave my hands numb after a 30 mile ride. You can still feel vibes, but the tingly feeling is gone. I can put miles and miles on it now without any probs. I haven't put one in my KLR cuz the vibes aren't that bad for me. I did put some gel grips on, that made a lot of difference too. Barends don't work with Brush Busters.

Just out of curiosity would filling the bar with some of the liquid rubber/silicone that cures, or maybe some really dense spray in foam insulation have the same effect? Or would that not pack the filler material tight enough inside the bar the way the bar snake does? Jon... A19 Portland, OR.

I don't think they would. back when I first learned of the Bar Snake, folks were telling me I could use the home remedies but they wouldn't be as good. At the time I was racing a 500MX that vibrated bad enough my forearms were numb 15-20 minutes into a ride. With the Bar Snake the bar vibration was darn near eliminated. The only thing different between a Bar Snake and the home remedies is the Bar Snake material is under pressure so it makes sense that it also explains why it works better. I remember when they stopped selling them, MCN ran a woe on us article and when it showed back up MCN followed up with Happy days are hear again story. My understanding is that its the popularity of the cruisers that brought it back. Pat G'ville, NV [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I filled my bars with cheap window caulking about 4 years ago. Presumably that should also give you "one big cylindrical piece of rubber", the mirrors immediately started getting a lot more valuable. Cost was $3. Somebody wrote in and said that it didn't work for him, but I can't understand how this operation could be screwed up, unless you don't get the bars as full as possible. At the price it is easy to try. DC Jon Till wrote:

Thanks for the feedback on the bar snake. I did a quick "google" search and came across this link.... http://www.barsnake.com/ I'm tempted to give it a try with window caulk just for fun but the cost of the bar snake is not all that bad. Hummmmm...... decisions, decisions. Jon...
