Actually, kevlar is about the worse fabric for standing up to road rash, at
least that's been the result of every test I've read. It might stop a bullet
but it wont stop the road. Among synthetics good old ballistic nylon is the best
for taking a slide down the road. It has twice the abrasion resistance of
Kevlar Stretch (kevlar lycra mix) and followed in order by its abrasion
resistance is Cordura, carbon coated kevlar, cow hide, 500 Denier Cordura, machine
washable leather, goat hide and dead last in the list is just plain old kevlar.
