cheapest insurance

Post by George Basinet » Tue Feb 10, 2004 9:12 am

Good morning. Just paid the bill for my Progressive. $340 for my 1992 BMW and the 1995 KLR. 5 years ago it was started at $320. I can't believe that they haven't seen how old I am or that I am operating with only 1 eye and up the rates. On the other hand their auto insurance was very high. So I stayed with AAA of Southern Ca. Holy cr*p - thank god for living in the country. I go thru a small farmer's insurance company. At 27 years old, clean driving record - I pay $38 a year for my A17. And I was upset that it went up from $32 with my XT225. Of course, that's liability only, but still. Hunter A17

I'd suggest looking at Pacific Specialty Insurance Company (The McGraw Group) for rates. I've got an A-16 with full coverage, live in San Francisco, good record, no accidents, etc., and my rates have dropped each year. Last year (2003) was $294 and for 2004 the premium for 12-months is $271. Works for me. Their website is: http://www.psic-onespot.com Mark A-16 SF, CA

That's who I use, cheaper by several hundred compared to other companies. Also, my ride is a '97, hardly new.

Up in Canada (Manitoba), the provincial public insurance (There is no private insurance) for my 2003 klr 650, 40 yrs old driver, clean record, is.... $1250.00cdn per year. This gives you 500.00 deductable, 2,000,000 liability and 5000.00 fire and theft insurance. Every year they up the rate. I wish I could only insure myself and not the bike. The harley riders crashing thier 30,000 dollar bikes and totaling them off is driving up the rates of us little bikes. I could go on and on how us bikers get screwwed on our insurance but i'm at work and don't want to be depressed for the rest of the day! ThePasMan

I am in BC, where we also have government insurance, but here they let you skip everything but liability. You can use private insurance for collision, theft etc. if you want. Last year the rate was about C$640 for just a straight 5,000,000 liability. That is for a full year, but being in the Rockies rather than the balmy coast, means I only pay for the not so snowy months. -- Craig Morris Fernie, BC, Canada

Will the two pot caliper fit on an A model fork leg, and would it be worth it ? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
