Paul, when I keep my RPM's under 5500, it consumes very little oil. Over
that, and it acts like a drunken sailor.

Thats right synth oil tastes funny on salads, but extra virgin oil is
pretty darn good.

Oh ya I would wait until 3~5K before using synth also, but I also have
no intentions to use synth oil anyway, not when a gallon of Delvac
1300 15w40 is $4.88 at Wallyworld.

Anyone that asks to ride or drive something is accepting some responsibility for what happens to the vehicle during the time they are riding or driving it. If he had any sense he would have apologized profusely as soon as he got off the bike and offered to pay all damages and then apologized several more times while assuring you he really did mean the part about paying for damages. In parting he should have derided himself for being so stupid and told you to send him the bill.
