David,
I have a '99 KLR 250, and for me it's perfect. I wanted something small,
light, and street legal for my off road riding. I knew I would get
carried away back in the woods and I wanted something light that I could
pick up and muscle around if need be. But I also needed something to GET
me to the woods and the 250 fills that need nicely. It's been stone
reliable so far, and I've done a few things to it to "personalize" it..
In MHO, it's a great little bike. Hope this helps.
Have fun and ride safe. Anthony

I'm just curious how many of you have KLR250s...I'd like to know your
experiences with them.
My own bike is an 86 model that I put together from a pile of junk.
When I recently found a new 2002 gas tank, I started updating its
look. Though I'm going to need some head work done, I had the
opportunity to do some trail riding on the bike. It was a pleasant
little bike, though I favor the power from my XT550. My goal is to
use the KLR for driving around town and light trail riding.
I think it is interesting that the bike has remained virtually
unchanged for 17 years, yet spare parts (engines and heads) are so
scarce.
