Don't laugh. My neighbor has a stripped down Virago that he takes out into the boonies. He even bought some cheap tires and had them studded so he could ride when our dirt road is all snowy. Gino

I agree totally. I also get a little tired of seeing sport bike after sport bike on it's back tire only. Not that I am against wheelies but I have been riding in bumper to bumper traffic and had kids next to me on CBR 600's put them on the back wheel surrounded by cars at 70 mph plus. I also saw a kid on a Ninja 750 put his head halfway through the roof of a Mercury Cougar (the police estimated he was doing 95 mph on a 35 mph road in rush hour). He lived about 5 minutes afterward. I think the bike mags should show a little less wheelies and a little more responsible riding tactics to keep young riders alive so as to enjoy motorcycling for a long, long time. Maybe the mags could show a little dual sports action or super motard stuff. It does get boring to see test after test of cruisers and bikes that can run above 150 mph. In my mind, you see one cruiser, you've seen em all unless it is custom stuff like Jesse James does. That is a whole other ball game in itself. And I don't really know what else they can do to top current sport bikes. These machines are generally above the skill of most of their riders anyway. Criswell Brad Davis wrote:

Check out this months issue of BIKE magazine, it's a UK mag, Barnes & Noble $8.00, subscription $48.00/year, probably the best commercial magazine I've read. This month side by side by side test of KTM Duke II, CCM R30, and MZ Baghira, 3 Supermotard wannabes. All the bikes we would like to have are there, 504 mini reviews listed of new & used bikes. Brad A 15 - (is there alot of Brad's w/ KLR's or what?)

No, you probably won't see any articles featuring Cruiser style motorcycles in Dual Sport News.....unless its an article that compares the Archetypical Dualsport with that genre...... Toby Lampson

I just look over at them right before the light changes, and say "It must suck to be you" real loud, then lose them when the light changes. Works every time.

Actually you'd be surprised what a bicycle can do off the line. I can beat just about any car off the line on my bicycle, and probably a few motorcycles as well. Though the bikes are gonna catch me quicker than the cars (I can generally stay ahead of autos through the intersection.), and either one of 'em is obviously gonna drop me real quick once they get goin'. Trick is to track-stand the light, then you're gone as soon as it changes. Otherwise the cars are half a block away by the time you get clipped in. It's a lot of fun when macho types in cages are just plodding along until they see there's a bicycle beating them through the intersection, then they gun it. Even better when you nonchalantly roll up next to them (or past them if there's a line) at the next light and do it again. ;) -Trevor

I'm not defending hooligan antics of many test riders, but the person ultimately responsible for a young rider's behavior is that young rider. Sure some of the mags could use some toning down, but if you're old enough to ride, your old enough to be responsible for your own actions. Can't blame the mags when some "kid on a Ninja 750" makes himself a hood ornament...
>Maybe the mags could show a little dual sports action or super motard stuff.
No hooligan antics but more super motards? Super motards are practically purpose-built for hooligan antics Isn't that what makes 'em so fun? :) -Trevor

You know, you can join "Lesbians Against Wheelies" and put your money where your mouth is. Try www.law.com. I recently returned from a Lesbian vacation and can tell you the dual sport riding over there is great. But careful with the big wheelies, they're serious over there about some stuff.
