Wise choice on the Civic. I have a 93 4 door LX and it's not uncommon to get 36 to 39 mpg while traveling 75-81 mph. A few times I've gotten 41 mpg. Only problem I've had in 130k miles is a blown head gasket. Glen Meyer- A13 "cheaper than flying" Post Falls, (North) Idaho USA

nklr: battery charger recommendations?

Just about any charger that will output 2, 10 and 50 amps will do for a car battery, but I'm particular about how I fry my bike batteries and have an Accumate for them. The thing I like about them is, if you put a voltmeter across it, you get zero volts. When the battery is low it charges, when it isn't low it shuts clear down. No more fried batteries. I have replaced the connectors with Radio Shack connectors and wired all my bikes so I just plug the charger in when they need it. Same plug furnishes 12VDC for GPS, compressor, vibrator, etc. thru a cigar lighter plug with the same adapter on it. Warning! Don't remove the cigar lighter plug from your auxiliary equipment. Some of them include circuits to drop 12VDC to 4.5 and 6 VDC. Actually, I won't buy a charger for my car batteries that does't have a timer to shut it down to .5 amp. I think the timer is important. I don't believe there is one charger that is good for all. Just .02 worth -- bierdo Duvall Ed wrote:
