Here Here, I too am glad I didn't shell out the cash for this much desired item, although it would be nice to have a center stand, I want one that is not going to disappoint me after a few weeks. Eric A 8 GL 1200

Yes, several months ago. I stopped by Dual-Star to pick up something in early September, and Mike thought he would take a look at the stand on my bike then, but he got tied up elsewhere. It's not really an urgent problem for me. I'm shortly going to have to park the KLR for a few months anyway, so I'll just wait until March or April and check with Mike again then. Dreas

I bought a used Dual Star center stand about a year ago, and I havent had any problem with it. However I will be on the lookout for the potential problem, but it seems like an easy fix. My bikes on the stand right now. And I have done some offroading with it on, and havent hit it yet. But then again, my XR250R is my main trail bike, so the KLR dosent have to do the nasty stuff anymore. But occasionally, the XR isnt handy, so the KLR still sees a little rough stuff, just not as much as it used to. So far, I still like my centerstand. Howdy. Does anyone have a photo of their installed centerstand? I've had mine on for several months and believe that it tilts to far forward when the bike is on it. TIA

Just put one on a couple of weeks ago, so I uploaded 3 pix to the Files section, under the Body & Paint directory, in a subdirectory called Centerstands. In one pic, I put a box near the centerstand in an inexact attempt to have a vertical reference, so you could see how close to vertical the centerstand is. Mine is brand new, and it seems very stable. If you're concerned about yours, I'd recommend calling or e-ing the Dual Star guys. jett

A couple of observations: The stand arrived within 3 weeks - as promised. It fits well and is well made. The reinforced area that has extra welding to prevent the sagging looks good - we'll see if it works. I found that the stand hit the shock linkage bolt slightly. I checked the archives and within 5 minutes found the solution. My bolt was in backwards, and after switching it, I have good clearance now. I also found several references to the 'lifting drill' . Grabbing the tank front and the left passenger peg bracket works great for me (5' 9", 150 lbs). The bike comes right up. Isn't this list great! Dave

About a month ago someone posted a message that their centerstand was not raising the bike off the ground enough for free rear tire rotation. I hadn't used mine in a while and didn't give it any thought. Now mine seems to be afflicted. Don't know if it is because the rear tire is brand new, but the few times I have used it, I don't seem to recall this being a problem in the past. What was the cause of this? How was it resolved? I seem to recall that it was sent back for repair? -svt- KLR a12

Be persistent, you have to call him on the 435 area code number. Talk with Mike and get his response and post it to the list. There is a rumor going around that Dual Star is not making KLR centerstands anymore. I checked with Mike on Thursday and he just laughed saying he's selling more than ever and for the first time is going to build enough to have them in stock real time. I want to have someone contact Mike directly and relay the message directly to the list. Kurt
