I second that! KLR is a great commute bike! I commute from Rialto to Torrance daily, 150 miles to be exact, My KLR does great, It makes my commute a lot better, I can lane split and use the car pool lane and make the 75 miles in an hour, during rush hour. I do not have the low front fender and the wind does not bother me ( i get gusts of 50 mph near my house at the bottom of cajone pass. ) Vibration seems to be differnt on each bike, I have no problems with vibration. Can see in my mirrors except at the one harmonic rpm that wiggles my mirrors.. Dale Y2K KLR So-Cal

run* Interestingly enough Sarah, I remember in the early days of the list when we did one of those top ten bike's I'd like in my garage lists...the PC800 was near the top...what a strange group we are...BTW, another one you might consider for that commute is a Connie... Kurt

I don't know how long it (or any bike) would last at high speed, 80+ for an hour or so at a time every day, but so far mine has performed well. I have no problems, including vibration, etc., from cruising 80+ even two up for long periods in all weather. I feel I abuse my bike, but it still has not pushed back. I keep it tuned and tightened, but that is about it. == Rev. Chuck :^)>+ A13 http://klr650.www.50megs.com/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ _____________________________________________________________

Where do these people come from? Anything over 650cc is a waste. The KLR is a more than capable freeway commuter and tourer. I commute regularly on mine. Gino

The one thing I would reccomend someone who is going to commute this on a KLR is loc-tight everything, I learned the hard way by loosing MANY screws/bolts etc.. No problems after loc-tight Dale

RM- Hopefully lister Dale will respond to your question. He regularly commutes pretty far on LA freeways and then off-roads it on weekends. I've ridden my A12 from Moab to LA via Yellowstone in surprising comfort. I'd do it again. Would I regret buying a KLR? RM

Yeah, don't want to offend a macho outdoorsman like Irvine but.....All that plastic on an "aerodynamic" bike makes it more susceptible to semi blow + Try turning your head before a big city lane change when in a sporting, crouched position. Bogdan
