I agree, buy used. The depreciation rate on new motorcycles is incredible unless you're buying Harley or Indian, And then you pay much more for the name anyhow. Dirty little secret, look for used motorcycles sold in the Northeast and Midwest. A six month riding season usually yields low mileage bikes of fairly recent vintage. I've bought one motorcycle new, a 2006 KLR 650. And I got it at $4999,. 10 years later it's worth about $2k. Not too bad. But think what the rate is on that $12-$15K bike. Every other bike I've ridden has been used. and I haven't gotten a lemon yet. But I've stuck with Japanese. I cannot speak to the used American bike experience.
