horn makes chirping noise

Post by Fred Hink » Wed Sep 25, 2013 9:27 am

The stock horn uses about 2 amps.  Not sure what the dB of the stock horn is but going to a 3A and 112dB will make a significant difference.  Going to the Stebel air horn @ 139dB is almost mind numbing.   You could slightly increase the sound of your stock horn by running larger wires and a relay.  Most of the buzzer type of horns are adjustable.  The adjustment screw on the backside of the horns are to set the amps & sound of your horn.  You must be careful adjusting this screw since your horn is designed to only use so many amps, too many and you will burn up your horn and too little and the horn won t function like it should.  Without using an amp-meter, I wouldn t mess with this adjustment screw.   Is the Nikko 3A noticeably louder then the stock?   I heard someone say that the stock can be made louder is given more power. True or untrue? If true, how does one do that?   Thank you fellas!   -David
