Can anyone out there give some advice on troubleshooting a nonfunctioning headlight? I've replaced the bulb with no luck. 2003 KLR 650.

<><><><><> <><><><><> Dan, On the Gen I KLRs the headlight fuse is located under the seat next to the main fuse. They are glass style fuses and the headlight fuse is 10 amps and the main fuse is 20 amps. Sometime the fuse will look good but will actually be bad. Many people replace the glass style fuses with ATO style fuses which may be easier to find on the road. Take a careful look with the instrument cluster and see if the gage lights work with the key on. They are also powered by the headlight fuse. The fuse is known to sometimes blow if the operator makes a slow switch between low and hi beam. Both beams will be on for a brief interval and may blow the fuse with nothing being wrong with the system. What is the tail light doing? If the headlight fuse is bad, the taillight will be out, too.

And if all the lights except brake light are out and the horn doesn't work, the plug under the dash has become unplugged like mine did. The plug that controls the radiator fan plug came unplugged once in Moab rattling around on those roads. I have all those plugs zip tyed tight now. Seems to solved it. Criswell Sent from my iPad

SAFTY!! Anyone that rides much, KNOWS, When you are TOO HOT OR COLD, Your focus WANDERS. When I arrived in Moab, all 3the of the others said, You NEED a Cooling Vest, even with my Full mesh Vented riding coat. So off to, FRED'S OF COARSE. So off on a Long ride. (Around the Block. HA HA) WOW what a difference!! I have read about them, and seen them but thought, Most have solid coat ONLY, I have 3 depending on the Michigan, weather, (32f. - 105f AND MUGGY) I didn't even ask how much I figured At Fred's the price would be fair, so when I placed a few things on the counter, I just handed him my C.Card, (& Talking to others while looking around the Fred's shop/store. Today I looked up the price, NOT the $70+- I expected to see............$39.95 You feel and THINK Better, SAFER when your hands and feet are warm, Well you will LOVE feeling COOLER, therefore ride your KLR650 SAFER With a CHEAP COOLING vest. PS. When Dry, Helps keep you a bit WARMER ALSO. So What ever you ride and WHERE ever you ride, The vest was the Best $40. I spent on gear.
