MSR Now (2013) has a new UNIVERSAL Stove, Besides better stronger legs.... It not "ONLY" (said lightly) burns White, or unleaded gas, kerosene, and Diesel, It now also will use the common CANNISTER fuel. (juust change a couple of included parts. AND because each fuel NEEDS a different AIR/FUEL Mixture it comes with a 2cent mod. Kidding it has a sleeve to ADJUST THE AIR to fuel mixture for a better burn.

It is multi-fuel like the DragonFly but like the regular WhisperLight does not simmer very well. But if all you plan on doing is boiling water for rehydrating food it should be fine. For a hobby, I search eBay from time to time to try and find a used Svea 123 or 123R, Optimus 99 or Optimus 8R stove. If all the parts are there, it's not hard at all to bring even a crappy one back to life and into usable condition. A new Svea 123R isn't made in Sweden any more & costs around $100. I've found a "real" one for $25-$30 and have a perfectly good camp stove in a few hours of cleaning. They burn Coleman fuel and are dead reliable in most any conditions you will encounter on a bike trip. Ten years ago, Primus introduced the OmniFuel Stove (now the OmniLite), which does all of these. The nice part is that Primus has a METAL pump, unlike the crappy all-plastic MSR pump. Ever have a pump shatter 120 miles from the nearest human being? I have run my OmniFuel on Jet A, white gas, unleaded gas, kerosene, ethanol and methanol (barely runs on methanol, but does in a pinch), propane, butane, and isobutane/propane mix. Mark
