This time we're going to explore the area and try to make it back to the observation point by sunset for good photography opportunities. After that, it's on to Moab, finding a motel for "base camp" and just planning day rides with tips from locals or the Internet. I don t know that there will be a group from Seattle. Some folks say that they are interested but that does not necessarily mean that they will show up. If I can t get a group to trailer in from Seattle my backup plan will be to just ride there solo and take two weeks off of work instead of one. I was planning on the dates that Fred suggested, the dates when the CMC was run. That seems like the perfect time, late enough to render some of the higher elevations snow-free yet early enough to avoid the 100 degree plus temps. I was in Moab in mid-July last year and it was over 100 every day yet surprisingly tolerable with a hydro-cooling vest under my riding gear.
