After receiving some much appreciated advice from this list, I went in to Wal Mart and checked out the oil section. Is the Mobil 1 15w50 I see on the shelf at $7.67Cdn. the one you guys use in the auto oil section)? All this controversy about oils has got me, as a new KLRer, confused. I couldn't find any of the API rated oils from the owner's manual in any stores. Wal Mart has a Castrol 10w 40 Motorcycle oil that is $3.67 a litre, but I couldn't read the fine print in the dim light and didn't notice any ratings. I wonder if the extra $ is worth it, although 2.5 litres of any oil won't break my budget. I use Wal Mart's cheapest 15w40 in my 240,000 mile VW diesel and it runs fine. I'm coming up to the first service at 800kms and had better make my mind up soon ! Seems there are a lot of 6'2" guys on this list. Me too ! Steve in British Columbia
