I changed the grips on my golf clubs recently, and while doing so marveled at
the ease of doing so as opposed to changing grips on my KLR. I decided to
try the same method on the KLR recently. Stripped the old grips off, cleaned
the bar and throttle sleeve as normal. Then appled some double sided sticky
tape from my golf club changing kit. Next, squirted the water-like golf grip
solvent on the tape and into the grip. While wet, it's more like a lube than
anything! Grips slipped on with amazing ease, and I was able to rotate them
to get the logos lined up just right (a habit of us annoying Type-A people).
Two weeks later, the grips are as tight as ever, even after an unexpected wet
ride. No wire loops, either.
Give it a try!
