unitrak lube help

Post by Tumu Rock » Mon Oct 09, 2000 5:11 pm

So I'm all set to lube her up and break open the manual to find step one is : "Disassemble the unitrak". Can anyone clarify? Does this mean just removing the pivot bolt? OR do I also need to remove all the bolts holding the linkage and the rocker arm? Any potential pitfalls to look out for? dat brooklyn bum _______________________________________________________ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html

I haven't done mine yet either; a reply to the list will be appreciated. I searched the archives a couple of months ago but didn't find anything really helful, so I put it off even longer, which I know is't a good idea. However, it'll be raining here soon, and I can roll the bike in the living room and do it.

Hi Bill, It all needs to come apart, swing arm pivot as well. Old grease cleaned out, bearings, bushings and pins(sleeves) checked, these will wear more than the needle roller bearings. Re-grease with a waterproof moly grease and put back together.......Just like that!!!!!! Late models are easier because its all nuts, NO Circlips which are a right PAIN and often will need to be replaced if bent, broken, when you take them out. I think they are all nutted post 96, not sure. My D17 has the clips, my A14 is nutted. Happy servicing, Brian A14 D17
