Yo all,
Ok, if all goes well, the weekend of the 28th shall be when I sell my
car and get a downpayment of about $2000-$3000 for a '01 KLR 650
(having gotten my liscense the previous week). However, the cheap
bastard in me compels me to find as low a price as I can, even if I
have to badger a friend into takin me out-of-state overnight to get
there. Lowest price I can find here in Dallas is $4500 (I think the
guy read it wrong), next lowest being $4800. Pretty good, but I
thought I saw earlier a post saying Luisiana had pretty low prices,
that still true? Anyone know bout New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, or
even Mexico? If prices are unknown, City names would be appreciated
so I could look them up on the dealer locator at the kawasaki site.
Thanks,
DXK
PS: Why the heck do they list it as 4499?!? Like a dollar difference
is gonna make me jump at it. Sometimes I hate marketing ploys.

what a bargain

I think this is both a right and a good price--depending on freight, set-up, pre-delivery mantras and whatever else the dealer might tack on. I bought my 1999 A13, new, for $4,200.00, plus tax. However, there was a price war going on and one dealer was advertising new KLR650s at $4,200, but was tacking on about $1,000 in shipping and set-up fees. My dealer, Vickery Motorsports in Aurora, CO, decided to teach them a lesson and matched their advertised price without the add-ons. Those deals are gone in the Denver area, for now. I was quoted $4,600.00, out the door, plus tax, for a 2001 KLR650. Still a pretty good deal, however. Charles,
You are correct sir! The Snap-On 1/4" drive socket sells for something like
$295.00. Not just too much. WAY too much. I got mine at Harbor Freight via
mail order.

or just (http://www.harborfreight.com)
It works great. I personally feel like it's all right to have inch/lb
measurements a little bit inaccurate as long as they are all the same.
On the other hand, if you have other uses for it, you can't go wrong with
the Snap-On. I have a 1/2" Snap-On dial torque wrench and it is about my
most prized tool (minds out of the gutter gentlemen). Got it still in its
unopened original box at a garage sale for $20.00 about 5 years ago. Didn't
use it till I got the KLR at the beginning of this year. Sure am glad I kept
it now. Eldon does everything first class and has a bunch of bikes to work
on. I can see where he would want that level of precision and accuracy. Not
me for a once-in-3K-miles use.
My opinions are my own and subject to change without notice.
