Thanks for the support. I feel good about myself and that green KLR and I think with the help of all the Listers (maybe not Brian
from PA) I will be out of therapy and be able to ride the streets with my head held high. But I'm still going to wear a tinted face
shield so none of my friends recognize me.

I would consider that to be a great act of kindness, having seen your face. We'll be able to recognize you by your unique way of getiing on and (falling) off your motorcycle. anonymous

[dsn_klr650] front sprocket oil leak / nklr
Brian,
I recently had this same problem. My chain had never run too tight however.
It seems that the seal, at the most outside end of the collar can actually
create a
groove in the collar and this is what happens many times.
This is not to discount the possibility of your problem still either being a
worn
collar or, O-ring behind it.
In my case we popped the outer seal and only replaced that...due to timing,
and that I was about to head out on a ride. We did this, and I kept an eye on
the leak.
(Note: From visual inspection it looked wise to go ahead and replace all
three parts, at earliest convenience.)
400 miles later the leak stopped altogether......I know from what I've seen
inside,
that sooner or later I'm going to have to replace all three. In fact, all the
parts are
on hand, and I pack em' with me 'in case'.
To play it safe, you may want to replace all three before you go........at
least
the outer seal and then have another set of the three with you...........the
outer seal
is like $5.
Have a great trip!
---no need to split cases-----just make sure your output shaft ain't sloppy-----
