It depends of the geometry of your tiedown system. Possibly you don't have to tie the rear, although it does seem like a good idea. (I do) Rather than inciting a flurry of enginerd theories, just have a friend follow you (observer) as you drive over a speedbump. If the rear tire jumps off the trailer, you will want to tie it down. If it doesn't, then try driving faster. Once we had the rear tire drop off the rail onto the street. We heard the sound of a YZ125 following us down the road at 35 mph in first gear (25,000 RPM?). Is this what others are doing, or do you tie down the rear too? I havn't had a problem yet, except that my straps are showing some wear due to abrasion with the sides of the trailer. I would like to know more about what the rest of you are doing. I'll be trailering the bikes up to Northern Michigan tomorrow. Maybe I ought to be strapping down the rear ends too.
