Finally got to take my make-up ERC course (missed the first one thanks to brilliant local mech). The class was a little slow but all good info. Rides represented : KLR650, Harley Deuce (3 weeks old), Honda Shadow, Ninja 600, 2 HD Electra-Glides, Valkyrie Interstate (2 wheeled car!), and a V-max. Instructors were on BMW R100RT and a Kawi Police 1000. The funniest part of the day was the Harley guy refusing to do a rear wheel lock-up because his tires were too expensive (how 'bout them medical bills?) Then during the stop-as-short-as-you-can-drill, he locked 'em up accidentally. Har har! On the way home I rode a little way with the Deuce and the Ninja. The kid on the Ninja couldn't keep up. I thought he was having problems with the bike (needed a bump start more than once during the class). When the Harley guy split off at his exit I was waiting (45mph on the highway) for the Ninja kid to catch up. He was riding in the fast lane going 50 mph! I moved over to let him come over to the right and he didn't. Then a couple miles later he pulled to the right got in the right hand lane and signalled an exit. I followed thinking "Bike trouble." Turns out he had decided to stop to see if a couple of girls he knew were around. No biggee except I had taken the long way to home to make sure he made it back to his house. When we got back on the highway, I ditched him. It took me about 3 hours to make a trip that took only an hour and a half that morning thanks Mr Crotch rocket. Anyhoo, no life long riding buddies were made but a few good lessons were learned that will hopefully make me a life-long (and long-life) rider. I want to ride til I die, but I'm in no hurry to get to the finish line. dat brooklyn bum _______________________________________________________ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html
