Where I come from "a pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter" so a gallon of water is 10lbs. Since water always sinks to the bottom and cruds up the carb float bowls gas/petrol must be lighter, ipso facto if you calculate weight as if you were carrying water you will always make plenty of allowance for gas/petrol.
