[dsn_klr650] tubeless spokewheels.

Post by Fred Hink » Sat Aug 19, 2000 4:39 pm

I just had a bunch of Italians in my shop yesterday who were riding Moto Guzzis.  One of them had some broken spokes in the rear of the tubeless spoked wheel.  Called all over the country to try to find spokes.  NO one has them!  The last dealer I talked with called his Guzzi distributor, who told him that they don't sell spokes but they can get the whole wheel.  $800  YIKES!  No thanks.  Had some spokes custom made much cheaper than that.   Fred

I too like this wheel as I had them on my '95 R11GSA.  On my '97 R11R with the Cast Wheels., I bent the front enuff to lose air.  Not sure what I hit that hard in a turn to get to them but gunshy about my high speed turns on ruff pavement now more than use to. Problem here is the BMW's Telelever front end just don't care about pop holes , etc. I checked on the new wheels and they were 550 a pop., BMW also did these wheels for this bike in Tubeless wire at 750 or 850 a pop. Can't remem at the present.   I'm sure an industreous person whom likes to wire up rims could get the rims and spokes and do it them selves. I'm just not into it anymore. oh by the way, I send the wheel off with 75 bucks and had it straighter better than new for trueness.
