horses and motorcycles (nklr)

Post by R. Kaub » Fri Aug 18, 2000 10:27 am

It is not uncommon for me to encounter people riding or walking horses on the dirt roads that I ride on a lot. I just know that some horses can freak out when near a bike. What I always do is slow down as fast as I can and try to "read" the horse's body language to see if it's skittish. Then I get into first gear and slowly and as quietly as I can get way over to the opposite side of the road and pass the horse. If I'm coming up behind the horse, I make every effort to make sure the rider sees me coming. Try not to blow your horn. Once, I actually stopped and turned off the bike until the young rider went by on a very nervous horse. So far, I haven't scared any horses. The riders/walkers always seem appreciative. I hope this little courtesy helps folks understand that not all bikers are dolts. Thanks. FWIW Bob Kaub

Amigos today at work I scanned a couple of pictures and sent them home to my computer, I would like to learn how to post them on a single posting to the listgroup, using my computer. I'm not sure how; can anyone give me any simple pointers? TIA Manny Garcias Rhoda Dendron (this week's sidekick)
