nklr: darien jackets and odd looks from the public

Just an observation. When I am out riding solo I frequently get asked if it is cold outside (on 30+c days) when I go in to gas stations to pay up. Or asked if I have just come off the ski hill. I'm sure that not all of these people are being flip, they just do not clue in to the concept that the clothing I wear, which looks (to them) non-motorcycling, is actually for protection. If I am with friends wearing leathers there are no comments, the connection being made for them. Maybe as time goes by and more riders use Darien/Joe Rocket/Teknik or whatever the comments will get less and less. Just an observation. Gromit A13
