Ditto to the above comments. I mail ordered my jacket in '96 and have worn it for about 40,000km. It still looks like new, despite being thoroughly bug splattered by the end of each riding season (April to October where I live). A run through the wash (after the worst of the grot is scrubbed off) and a second run through the rinse leaves it looking pristine. Then all it takes is a spray with Scotchguard to restore the water-resistance. I have found it to be very water resistant (just do not put important things, like paper documents, in the wallet pocket when you ride through a rain storm. Don't ask.) The safety 'armour' fits well, is easily removed for washing, and gives a nice sense of security. All of the zippers for air flow really help when riding in high 30's (celsius) weather. And although you should not really load up the pockets, I too have found that I can carry quite bulky things. Yes they are expensive, but like anything else you get exactly what you pay for.
