item for plastic polishing

Anyone on this list have both one of these and a KLR-650? I don't know anything about the 250, is it a compromise bike like the KLR-650 in that's its mainly desgined as a road bike, or is it desgined more as an offroader? Do you do any heavy duty off roading with the 250? I've decided to get a true off roader and keep my KLR-650 as an adventure tourer. How is the little 250 off road? With a set of full knobblies, will it go everywhere say an XT-350 will go? How deep of water will it cross? I'm looking for strickly a woods/trail bike, so how do you think it'll stack up? Any other recommendations for me? There are a few 250's listed locally that are fairly cheap, so it's got me thinking about one. Thanks! RE: KLR-250 Hi Karl, I don't know much about the KLR 250, but I do know that the Honda XR 250 and XL 250 have a big following. I rode with a guy who has a XR 250 and he smoked me and another guy on a new DRZ400 all day in the trails. I was really impressed with the bike. Well, I don't have a 650, but I have owned an 88 KLR250 for the last 12 years. Though I love it dearly, it is by no means a competent off road machine when compared to any single-purpose off road mount. It is simply too heavy and too underpowered. That being said, I have been in and out of places with it that, had I known what I was getting into before I forged ahead, I would have turned around. On the other hand, I've been hopelessly stuck in the muck while ATV's and 125 motocross bikes whizzed right by. It is definitely a compromise bike. If you can afford it, look at the KLX300R instead. I just found some stuff in an aquarium supply catalog that looks like it would work well for renewing KLR plastics. Their website is at www.aquaticeco.com. The item is "Scratch Removal Kit" catalog # SK1 and sells for $23.00. The the description states, "Ideal for public and home aquariums, this convenient kit removes scratches from acrylic, lucite, and plexiglass. Kit includes 8 sheets of progressively graded crystal polishing pads, cotton flannel, sanding block, and 3/4 oz of polishing liquid abrasive. Molded case and complete instructions included."
