[dsn_klr650] (nklr) k & n air filters
Actually, I also use a paper filter as a barrier for my intake air. We
grind our cement to a dust that is finer than flour, silicosis is a very
real problem in the mining industry, I avoid the dust whenever possible. My
truck has a primary air filter outside the cab and a secondary filter in the
cab, when I have the fan on (this bad boy has an air-ride bucket seat with
lumbar support, A/C, Am/Fm Stereo, automatic 7 speed transmission and 700 hp
of twin turbo goodness) the cab is kept under positive pressure so that no
dust can get in. We operate under MSHA instead of OSHA and get our lungs
tested every year for possible damage. When I can't avoid the dust I always
wear a filter. We also have a big problem with hearing loss at the plant,
where I work (in the quarry) we have one area that is so loud there is a
maximum time limit exposure of 3 hours in an 8 hour day. Standing near some
of the plant air compressors you can feal your guts shake. Many of the
old-timers are almost deaf, most are hard of hearing. I have been reading
the posts on the use of ear plugs, I have used them every day, all day, I
know what I'm talking about. Unless you wear a helmet that covers your
ears, buy ear plugs, use the ear plugs. Later.
