Possibly larger surface area than foam, they are a pleated filter as I remember.

The manufacturers have the mixture set to what they want it at now-- very lean. If they were to install higher flowing filters they would adjust the mixture just like we have to. Any leaner and vehicles would run like crap.

That said--- I am still running paper in my cars and foam in my bike. On a related note-- I just cleaned the NOTOIL air filter that was in my bike for Moab. Washed out an incredible amount of dirt by the way using the detergent that came with the filter. My problem is that although it says it removes the NOTOIL rim grease it doesn't seem to remove it on mine. The rim grease dries or sets up into an almost rubbery seal. Good for sealing not good for removing. Anyone else have experience? Alan Henderson A13 Iowa
