k & n air filters

Post by The Squasher » Sat Aug 12, 2000 3:53 pm

There is another company in Italy that makes K+N type filters for race cars. They claim they are better then K+N. The company is at www.bmcairfilters.com. Personally I like K+N and run thier filters in everything that I own that K+N makes a filter for. They don't make one for my outboard boat motor otherwise I would have one on there as well. K+N admits that a new paper filter will filter better then a new K+N. But the paper filter quickly plugs up and then starts to run worse (I think flow less) then the K+N. If absolute small micron filtration is your key goal then go with paper. If you are riding in a dusty enviroment you may want to use a K+N. K+N filters better then foam and I don't think they make a paper filter for the KLR. I will be getting a K+N for my 2001 KLR (with 48 miles on it). Subject: Re: Re: K & N Air Filters I was under the impression (perhaps due to K&N advertising) that most desert racers use K&N filters on both two and four-wheel vehicles. If these filters allowed so much fine grit through the element I think this would compromise reliability in longer events, like the Baja 1000. What do they use in Paris/Dakar? ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
