Today at the bike shop, the fella that did the work said that I really
ran into a bad patch when I hit the objects that flatted me. He asked
what the hell I ran over. I told him it was a nail that went in. He
said it looked to him that there were TWO objects that went in there,
one which just went in like you might expect, and the other looked like
it went into the tire, and tried to get through the sidewall. He seemed
kind of amazed at the damage that happened. As a sad
afterthought/comment on the shop that fixed me up in the first place is
that they used a tube that was TOO SMALL! Ain't that a heap of Kudo's
for those folks? (Sarcasm intended.)
As far as the Karma issue, I do think it was a bit of that which played
a role in my serious luck yesterday. Whether it's a two-wheeler or a
cager, I'll usually turn around, go back down the highway and pull
around to see if they need help. So what if it might take time, make me
late going to work, or slower getting home. I learned a good lesson
yesterday, and will continue to do all I can for folks in distress.
An aside to this is that early in yesterday's ordeal, I told Greg how
happy I was that he was so kind (this is before the 200 mile trip he
made for me), he said that Jesus would've done the same thing he was
doing. urns out that Greg was a former Navy Corpsman and Diver, who got
out of the Navy after 9.5 years of service due to the Lord's calling him
to attend Seminary. He returned to the Navy as a Chaplain, and wound up
doing 26 years duty total for the United States. He wound up getting
his Doctorate in Ministry (The "working" degree for a man of faith) and
is currently going ahead with his Doctorate in Theology. I guess I can
honestly say I was helped by a man who was living his faith! I'm not
trying to toot this gentleman's horn for him, but just figured that I'd
set a little more info down on the man who was so kind to those who
might've wanted a little more info on this mystery man who helped me
beyond any words that can describe it all.
