An impact wrench won't work because the chain and rubber in the rear hub
absorbs the impacts. The first time I needed to loosen the nut, I took the
bike to my dealer to see if the impact wrench would loosen it. Two guys who
reminded me of two of the Three Stooges in the "Plumber" episode used about
500 psi to no avail. Finally one of them grabbed an indistrial strenght
crow-bar and twisted the chain against the frame to hold the sprocket steady.
It was an agonizing sight. the only reason I even let these nuts do it was
because I was looking forward to them buying me new parts. My KLR hasn't
seen that shop since...
